Community Day Before Taking a Break (October)

On Saturday, October 19th, we closed out a full season of programming with one last Community Day in 2024. Neighbors, volunteers, and community partners came by to celebrate all the ways we created together this past year, including: gathering at Community Days every month, launching a new gardening workshop series, and building out physical improvements to the Overton Plaza.

Among our many guests, Daya Stanley of the Black Girl Magic Club led a crafting station where attendees could design their own souvenirs, DJ Marco kept us light on our feet with a fresh live set, and the Windy City Ramblers stopped by for a number.

Much gratitude to them for livening up the day, alongside the rest of our gracious line-up:

If you were able to join us for any part of our 2024 programming, thank you! This project only works if we sustain it together. And if you’re just following from afar for now, we hope to see you in the spring!

The Overton Exchange POP is brought to you by the City of Chicago’s Public Outdoor Plaza (POP!) program, designed to create strategic community gathering spaces that serve as destination points for residents and neighborhood visitors.
