On the sunny morning of Saturday, May 31st, we gathered at Overton to kick off another round of garden workshops. Led by Lucía León, an urban farmer and the land steward at El Paseo Community Garden, these sessions are designed to provide a space for growers of varying experience levels to exchange gardening knowledge and practices.

Participants got a primer on how to plan their gardens to include native and pollinator species — essential players that drive growth and balance in an ecosystem. Together, we got some hands-on practice by setting up our raised beds with new seedlings.

Want to throw on the gardening gloves and learn more about tending land? See all future garden workshops and RSVP here. Our next workshop on insects in the garden takes place at 10am on Sunday, July 19th. We hope to see you there!
